Healthybit's take on self - we function much better when our body, mind and soul are being fed.
Let's take a brief look at each area.
Soul -
We work with many people who have many various takes on this, this happens to be ours. We believe whole hearted that the Bible is the Word of God. It is our instruction manual for all of life. If you don't have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ it would be our humbled honor to simply share with you how He has saved us form the pit of hell. You decide for yourself what is truth and what is a lie. He is our source of love, joy, and indescribable inner peace and much more, but above all our salvation.
Mind -
At Healthybit we too believe the mind is a terrible thing to waste. Have you ever heard the term Mind over Matter? That is more times the case then not. The power of the mind is unbelievable. What we think often becomes our reality. There is a lot to be said for the power of positive thinking. When we are in a positive frame of mind we are 10 times more likely to act in a positive manner. Do your own case study - as your going to bed and you lay your head down on your pillow and close your eyes tell yourself 5 positive things and create a mental picture of those things (repeat these several times as your falling asleep). Do this for a week. In the next week as you awake notice how you feel and how things are going in your life.
It's also important to continue to learn, even if it's just little things. I'll give you a couple of examples. 15 years ago I would have told you there is no way I would be involved with having my own business. My thought was "it's too hard, those people are good at it - it works for them, it would never work for me." Wow not only was there a lot of negitive thoughts but I was afraid to learn. It seemed to overwhelming. Then someone told me it's easy, just take a few baby steps and keep repeating them until you've got it. There's no magic to it, just practice. So we did just that - we practiced. I find it easiest to pick 1 thing and learn that then move on to the next thing. Just like when we were younger and in school - you learn 1 new concept then practice it before you move on. Students don't try to learn advanced math when they are just learning how to add 2 + 2. Same is true for us. Now my husband and myself have several successful homebusinesses and love. Are we continuing to learn - you bet ya we are and it's fun.
Another example, homeschooling. Wow, when I began to homeschool my kiddos it seemed like hugh elephant. I was drowning in paperwork, test to grade, etc - I was trying to tackle it all at once. It wasn't until I started to take little bits and things started to come together. And learning is more than just book knowledge. You also have to learn what your strenghts are and what your weaknesses are and in area's of weakness surround yourself with those people who are strong in your weak spots. For instance teaching grammer, now I can teach grammer but my kids can tell it is not my favorite subject which was rubbing off on them. Obviously that was not the direction I wanted them to lean towards, so I found someone who is extremely excited about grammer - we all win. Now they are excited to hear about grammer an have fun learning it and I have fun participating from more of a supportive role. Check out our links page to see what we're doing.
Above all have fun learning. Try learning something that brings joy to your life and/or that of your families. Learn something challenging. This past year I learned to Scuba Dive. I really had to overcome my fear on this one. Matter of fact I gave my class some pretty good laughs, not to mention my instructor at the end of the first night thought I would drop out. I made my mind up I was not going to quit and I'm so glad I stuck with it. I still want to dive with an expert, but I love diving. There is something so peaceful about seeing the wonderful world that exist underneath the water. This past summer we were able to dive in the Bahamas - totally beautiful.
Our challenge to you - live, expand your mind.
Body -
Of course the obvious - that E word that a lot of us try to avoid - Exercise. We'll talk more of this on our health/beauty page.
It's so beneficial to keep ourselfves in a forward motion as well. For instance are you happy in your job? Does it keep you engerized? If not look for something in your job to get excited about, something that propels you forward. If you can't find it in your current job look for side jobs you can do and catch the wave on the sea of endless possiblities. You might even consider consider starting your own home business. Having a home business opens up so many possibilities. For us we had a big interest in natural healing, in the long run it's cheaper and oh so much better for you in so many ways. Matter of fact, if you have questions about starting your own home business contact us, we'll be happy to share with you what to look for and how to get started
Oddly enough, the more we take care of ourselves the more we are able to do for others. Don't be a couch potatoe, get involved and put your whole heart into it. Volunteer your time to help someone else. For 2 years I volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, now we all volunteer at a local food pantry. It's great to get your kids involved in volunteering - it shows all of us life is much bigger than our little world. Helping others is also another great way to help young ones with positive good habits. And someday you may need the help. There have been more than a few times in the past we have wondered where our next meal might come from. Help someone this week. You think you'll be blessing them, funny enough the blessing also comes right back at ya.
In summary, when we feed our soul, mind, and body we have a much healthier us and we can make a positive impact on those around us. For a deeper probe think about this - why is it we tend to focus on the negitive? For example why is it so often our first thought is "I can't do that". I'd like to share a short true story with you. I know a girl who when she was very young was diagnosed Epileptic. At the drop of a hat this sweet blue eyed girl could have anywhere from 10 to 20 or more seizures in a day. Do you know what that does to a person, all that thrasing around and uncontrolled movements not to mention how helpless one feels when there is nothing they can do to help that person. The injuries that can occur. Nothing she took medication wise would help. I can remember one time she had just been released from the hospital (a 3 day stay before the seizures would finally stop), she was still a little wobbly from the medication. She was tired, not feeling well, had just been thru a tremendous ordeal but yet she still wanted to participate in her dance recital. She never lost hope, or faith. She never made up an excuse to give up. She believed! The outsider would say that girl will never do anything. She could have thrown in the towel, but she didn't. That sweet brave young girl is now 11, seizure free thanks to our Lord and His use of a VNS, and she just finished being a body double and an extra in a new family feature film coming out. This remarkable person, my daughter has taught me so much about bravery, keeping the faith, not losing hope and believing that with Christ all things are possible. So remember, even if the steps seem hard at times do something, take some postitive action and choose to believe. Any thing is possible!
Food for thought - instead of believing you can't do something, why not say I CAN accomplish any task that may or may not be easy to do. You have a 50-50 chance one will be right, so take a stand right now believe the positive. Yes You Can!
